BMW’s plans to announce the BMW X3 in the Indian automobile market and the time has come as during May & June 2011 the car will hit the market irony. We are surprised to see BMW claim at such a high rate as it launched BMW 320d Performance Edition a couple of days back, then announced of the BMW 6 Series launch.

The next supplement BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle is supposed to bring a important change in the company’s briefcase and sales figures since reports say that the car will be imported as CKD unit and not as CBU unit thereby reducing the overall cost per product. This strategy certainly will help the brand price it competitive enough in the market and expectedly attain a better growth. From June 2011 the company will start assembling the car inspite of the current ambiguous stand held by the Indian government which is supposed to be defined in the 2011 Union Budget. Considering the base model the car is supposed to be priced below Rs 40 Lakh and above for higher models.

BMW's Motorsport division announced today that it will enter six M3 race cars in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) starting from the 2012 season. The Bavarian company will be represented in the highly competitive championship by three teams, each entering two cars. The chosen teams are long-term partners BMW Team Schnitzer and BMW Team RBM, plus the newcomer Reinhold Motor sport GmbH.
Development of the M3 DTM car has been running at full speed in Munich for the past few months, with the first track tests are scheduled to begin this month. “The concepts presented by BMW Team RBM, BMW Team Schnitzer and Reinhold Motorsport GmbH ultimately convinced us. This is an excellent team line-up for BMW. For us, it is important that all three teams have absolute equal rights. We are looking forward to cooperating over the coming years – and hope to enjoy great success together,” said BMW Motor sport boss Mario Theissen.
No announcement has been made regarding the BMW driving line-up for the DTM. Of the three teams, only Schnitzer was part of BMW's DTM participation in the 80's and early 90's, winning the 1989 title.
BMW was officially involved in the DTM between 1987 and 1992, winning two titles with the M3 E30 in 1987 and 1989, with drivers Eric van de Poele and Roberto Ravaglia respectively. Before that, private team Gubin won the inaugural 1984 DTM season with Volker Strycek behind the wheel of a 635CSi.

Trussardi, one of Italy’s top design brands mostly known for its leather jackets, jeans, handbags and accessories, is celebrating its centennial anniversary this year with numerous events and special products, one of which includes a cooperation with BMW Italy. The two companies joined forces to design a limited edition version of the 5-Series Gran Turismo with bespoke styling cues.
The design of the 5-Series GT by Trussardi is said to have been inspired by the world of leather and gloves, which characterized the origins of the Italian brand. The emphasis was on new exterior details and a more luxurious interior treatment.
On the outside, Trussardi’s designers tried to polish up –pun intended- BMW’s crossover model with a an exclusive warm metallic brown named ‘Heraldic Brown’ that features three layers of paint. Numerous elements, such as the double kidney grilles and the window line decorations are in the same color as the body, while the strip in the front air intake and the 20-inch alloy wheels are finished in a dark grey matte color. Trussardi’s coat of arms that appears on the front fenders rounds off the exterior changes.
Inside, the 5-Series GT’s seats are covered in a special Glove Beige color, with contrasting stitching that creates a caned motif inspired Trussardi’s glove series, while the company’s logo is embossed on the headrests and the center tunnel.
The 5-Series GT by Trussardi is available with two petrol and two diesel engines, all of which can be equipped with BMW’s all-wheel drive system. The engine range includes a 3.0-liter turbo diesel with 245HP (530d) or 300HP (535d), a 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol with 306HP (535i) and a 4.4-liter V8 turbocharged petrol with 407HP (550i).
BMW said the 5-Series GT by Trussardi will be built by custom order adding that it takes approximately six-weeks to complete each car. Pricing has not yet been announced.

A new styling package will soon be added to the long list of available options of the BMW Z4 hardtop roadster. The ‘Design Pure Balance’ equipment package is similar to the ‘Design Pure Balance’ released in the fall of 2010 and includes special interior appointments and a bespoke exterior finish. Inside, the package adds a Cohiba Brown leather treatment with contrasting seams in Lotus White along with additional black leather features with seams in Umbra, plus Fineline Anthracite wood and sports seats, all fitted as standard. While buyers can choose from a variety of non-metallic and metallic exterior paint finishes, BMW proposes a unique Mineral White metallic color which is exclusive to this edition.
The new equipment package will be available for order from summer 2011.

De Tomaso's return in Geneva makes me ask two questions: 1) Why do companies think cars like this, the recent Lagonda, and Spyker D12 are necessary?, and 2) Who's buying them? According to the Italian company, they've already got a 1,500 unit backlog.

The production ready Deauville concept (previously known by its SLC and later SLS codenames), revives the name De Tomaso placed on its 1970's attempt at a luxury sedan; sadly, instead of an attractive Ghia saloon, this time around the Italian marque decided to emulate BMW's GT and create a Pininfarina-penned crossover.
Inside is a different story; the plush, handcrafted interior is bathed in leather, Alcantara, and carbon fiber, although I'd like to see what Infiniti's silver flake wood might look like in there.
Once known for cars like the Pantera and Mangusta, it appears that all originality and verve have been sucked from the brand in an attempt to go Teutonic with this humpbacked tourer.
The four-door, 4WD Deauville "sport luxury sedan" will reportedly be available with a turbocharged V6 (300 horsepower), a diesel V6 (250 horsepower) or a V8 (550 horsepower), all imported from "Detroit's Powertrain Integration". Expect more info when deliveries start in September.
