Land Rover to Premiere Range E Diesel-Electric Plug-in Hybrid

The British automaker said the all-wheel drive prototype can run purely on electricity for up to a distance of 20 miles or approximately 32 kilometers and emits as low as 89g/km of CO2. The Range_e also has a top speed of 120 mph or 193 km/h and a combined driving range of 690 miles or 1,110 kilometers.
The Range_e will be joined at Land Rover's Geneva Motor Show stand by two new Limited Editions, the Range Rover Autobiography Ultimate and the 2011 Discovery 4 'Landmark' with Black and White themes.
Land Rover added that it will also be announcing full European pricing (excluding UK) for the new Range Rover Evoque in both 3- and 5-door forms, and will also showing a comprehensive range of accessories and options for the vehicle.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design director said: "Customers like to make their own unique statement with a vehicle and we have provided individuals with lots of opportunity to personalise their new Range Rover Evoque, whilst maintaining the essence of the design."

Life Begins at fourty. This phrase became the motivation for the British car manufacturer, Land Rover, to celebrate his 40th birthday. After launching 700 units Autobiography Range Rover Limited Edition Black, is now offering more models of All-New Range Rover Evoque, designed and manufactured specifically for the anniversary.
Land Rover's appearance is much more stylish and modern with oval indentations, a box or a typical boxy Land Rover. Election Evoque said, according to Land Rover, to reflect the image of exclusivity is full of emotion.
"Evoque see cosmopolitan, cross-border, sophisticated, and in accordance with the elegance of the city car," says Phil Popham, Land Rover's Managing Director.
Sport utility vehicle (SUV) was equipped with two powertrain options, namely four-wheel (AWD) and two wheels (2WD). Bases using the concept of LRX with 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine and electric motor. Fuel consumption is claimed to be 21 km per liter of exhaust gas and 130 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer.
Manufacturers plan to market these products throughout the world and hopes to expand the market. Conducted the first launching in the summer of next year. Cars are assembled at Halewood plant 1000 and absorb new labor.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Land Rover offers something special. With the base of the Range Rover, which was launched this product is a special edition called Autobiography of Black. This product was launched in its home country, England.
SUV which only produced 700 units clad Barlolo Black paint and can be ordered from today. Indonesian could participate because he was ordered to be marketed worldwide.
Speaking of display, exterior Land Rover Autobiography of Black looks grim. It was more impressive because all four feet wearing size 20-inch alloy wheels. The design was also interesting. Silver and black color combination between the crossbar to make the look more manly.
Other touches seem of little details, such as lever door is now painted one color with the body, clad in chrome front bumper garnish with black colored air ventilation, and emblems Autobiography of Black on the back of the car.
Entry into the cabin, the manufacturer offers three color options package, which Color Theme Jet, Jet & Ivory, and the Jet & Pimento. Some logos Autobiography of Black penetrate in some locations, such as rear seat armrest and the sides of the door.
"As the product is limited, New Autobiography Black 40th Anniversary Limited Edition is offered in various color combinations of options, both interior and exterior. Cars are limited in number and became the exclusive product in the world," they said in their official statement, as reported by Autoevolution, today.

A Better Freelander
Production of the Freelander 2 was moved from the Solihull plant in Birmingham to Halewood in England near Liverpool. It now shared production of the Jaguar X-Type automobile. It used a chassis based on the global midsized EUCD platform (European C/D class) that accommodated a larger transversely-mounted Volvo SI6 3.2 liter inline 6-cylinder petrol engine that also powered the new Volvo S80.
It came with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. The UK version didn't get this engine but instead got a 2.2 liter DW12 common rail turbo-charged diesel engine jointly developed with the French PSA (Peugeot Societe Anonyme) to power its new Peugeot Citroen cars.
With improved ground clearance and off-road handling capabilities, the second generation Freelander matched the Land Rover tradition for off-road superiority found in its Discovery and Defender line and proved superior to its European SUV rivals. In addition, the Freelander 2 sported improved interior quality, road safety features as well as modified Terrain Response off-road system used in the new Discovery III and upscale Range Rover. The Rover Group and the Swedish Haldex Traction AB jointly developed its four-wheel drive system using the third generation Haldex coupling which was also fitted in the complete 2005 to 2008 Volvo models
The Landrover Freelander 2 was introduced in the US markets as the LR2 HSE in 2007 sporting the 6-cylinder 3.2 liter inline petrol engine capable of 230 hp on a 6-speed automatic transmission gear train. It came with the luxurious interior appointments the US markets had become accustomed seeing in an SUV but was bettered with a Cold Climate System that heated the front windscreen and front seats at two heating levels as well as a heated windscreen water jet, a 14-speaker 440-watt surround system from Alpine, touch navigation screens, and bi-xenon headlights to mention some.
The Latest Freelander 2 TD4_e
The Rover Group launched the Freelander 2 TD4_e in 2009 which marked the first SUV in the UK to use an eco-friendly stop-start technology to economize fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. The in the designation stands for e-Terrain Technologies presumably referring to 'earth' and was Land Rover's answer to the emerging trends in environmentally friendly road vehicles.
With the e-technology, the engine stops when in idle gear and instantly resumes when engaging the clutch pedal. A heavy-duty starter motor acts as a generator to recover energy from its regenerative braking using capacitors to store energy and restart the engine without engaging the starter battery. The e-Terrain is expected to be used in subsequent hybrid Freelander models.

Having bled cash for a while prior to the sale, both companies were given new facilities and new models right before their disownment, and it would appear that investment from Ford has finally paid off as Tata has recently announced that both companies have turned a profit. Yes, you read that right, a profit. Thanks to an increase of 23% in total sales over the last quarter, Jaguar/Land Rover posted a profit of almost $5 million.
While nothing to write home about (that’ll only buy you around 50 XK’s), the profit demonstrates exactly how far the two firms have come from their darker days. Now producing vehicles that are easily the equal of competitors once thought out of reach, it’s good to finally see the buying public expressing their confidence in the two historic firms.

The D3s 6-speed manual transmission is no longer available . An improved version of the ZF 6-speed automatic/sequential gearbox is now fitted which includes taller gearing to take advantage of the new engines' greater torque output and an updated lock-up system to further reduce fuel consumption. Other technical changes include the fitting of the more powerful brakes from the Range Rover Sport and thicker anti-roll bars to improve on-road handling. The electronic handling system have been updated- the Stability Control System now includes a programme that detects the onset of understeer and applies the brakes. The D4 retains its predeccesor's fully independent air suspension with cross-linking when off-road and the twin-range transfer gearbox with an electronic infinitly-variable locking centre differential

The Terrain Response system remains but with two new features- the 'Sand' mode incorporates a new traction control mode to prevent loss of traction when starting off and stopping in soft sand, and the 'Rock Crawl' mode gains a feature that applies gentle brake pressure at low (less than walking pace) speeds to improve grip and stability on slick rock.

he exterior design of the Land Rover Discovery 4 has been updated, with smoother and simpler surfaces at the front, including a new, more aerodynamic bumper. Aerodynamic changes to the front end, with the revised front lower chin spoiler and new front wheel deflectors, help to reduce drag by increasing underfloor airflow. The new lights include LED technology front and rear.
